Magnesium Tank Anode with a Cylindrical Shape and an Inserted Pipe
Our weld-on magnesium hull anode with a pipe insert provides robust protection against corrosion for steel-hulled boats in freshwater, effectively countering issues from stray currents and pollution.
Description
The use of magnesium hull anodes is widespread in combating corrosion on steel-hulled service boats operating in freshwater environments like rivers, canals, and for leisure cruising. They are particularly effective in countering corrosion issues arising from stray currents or pollution in freshwater. The weld-on magnesium hull anode with a pipe insert boasts a strong driving voltage and can quickly polarize to safeguard submerged metal components against corrosion below the waterline.
Quality Substrate Material
Crafted using top-quality magnesium alloy, our magnesium hull anode is designed to meet the American standard ASTM B843 – AZ63C.
Element | Content |
---|---|
Aluminum (Al) | 5.3% – 6.7% |
Manganese (Mn) | 0.15% – 0.7% |
Zinc (Zn) | 2.5% – 3.5% |
Silicon (Si) | 0.1% max. |
Copper (Cu) | 0.02% max. |
Iron (Fe) | 0.03% max. |
Nickel (Ni) | 0.02% max. |
Other Impurity (each) | 0.05% max. |

Custom-made Electro-potential Options
Our magnesium hull anode is typically manufactured using pressure die casting and H-1 alloy, ensuring a standard potential of -1.55 volts compared to the saturated calomel electrode (SCE). Upon request, we also offer high potential magnesium anodes.
Technical Measurement | Performance |
---|---|
Open Circuit Potential (-V) | 1.5 ~ 1.55 |
Close Circuit Potential (-V) | 1.45 ~ 1.5 |
Min. Current Capacity | 550 A.h/lbs (1230 A.h/kg) |
Current Efficiency | 55% min. |
Optional Plastisol Coating
The magnesium hull anode is offered with options of either being bare or coated with plastisol (polyvinyl chloride). The plastisol coating is strategically applied to the sides, ends, and faying surfaces, acting as an effective barrier against electrical currents. This coating can be selectively removed from the anode to modify surface area contact and adjust current output as required.
Strict Quality Control
Our magnesium hull anode is produced, examined, and tested in strict adherence to ISO 9001:2015 standards, guaranteeing exceptional quality through rigorous procedures.
Customized Configurations
Please note that weights and dimensions may vary slightly due to natural variations in material densities. While we provide a range of standard magnesium anodes as shown above, we also offer customized configurations upon request.
